Monday Madness:
1. What one thing do you wish would never have been invented? Why? WMD.
2. If you could change the speed limit on the highways, what would you change it to? 55. Except in Montana
3. What word or words do you misspell consistently? I'm not particularly consistent about anything *grin*.
Let's throw in one more again this week................
4. What wealthy person is the least deserving of their fortune? Why?
Um. I think I'll leave this one alone. Don't want to stir up a can of worms.

Solunar Tables
I always think of animals feeding at dawn and dusk. According to the newspaper, they actually have a varying schedule of feeding, which the newspaper prints in the form of a Solunar Table. For instance, today, in our area, there was a minor feeding at 3:35 a.m., a major at 9:45 a.m., another minor at 3:55 p.m. and a major at 10:10 p.m.
Googling on "Solunar Tables" brings up a lot of sites, but most of these offer to sell you the tables for fee.
Speaking of times, this morning I woke up to a lot of buzzing and sawing and droning. A majority of leases in our complex run out the end of July so that management can spend time getting the apartments in shape for incoming students. (We're probably about fifty percent students here.) Well, I figured that of course if there was that much noise on a Sunday morning it must already be 10, so I dozed a bit longer. I was wrong. They started about 8:00 a.m.! I should have gotten back up and congratulated the blogathoners! *sigh*

Okay, Meryl, your words:
Then there are those who think that Hemingway was more than just a misogynist hack journalist/wannabe writer who used as few words as possible because he was too talentless to write like, oh, Fitzgerald. They want you to write Hemingway-style. Let's try it:
"She was a woman. She was beautiful. Mike liked her. But he knew she'd have his balls in a jar. She was the kind of woman that collected balls. Lots of them. So he left."
That was from memory. I haven't had to read a word of his since my senior year in college, when I read the Cliff Notes for The Sun Also Rises and managed to pass my final with them. How'd I do? I'm thinking I wasn't as subtle as Hemingway, though. In The Sun Also Rises, he just had the matador get killed by a bull the morning after he slept with the female lead. Guess it's that Samson/Delilah thing. (Wow, that virginity thing will get 'em every time, no matter what century they're losing it in.)
So if you stop by, I have two questions:
1. Did you ever read Hemingway, or is he just a Cliff Note?
2. Why the Hulk? He also uses few words.
I'll be back.

From the Meteor Showers group:
The Southern Delta Aquarids peak on July 28 but some may be seen now through August 17. This shower produces around 20 meteors per hour at it's peak, or better than one meteor every two minutes on average.
To observe this shower, plan to observe in the few hours before your sky brightens at dawn on the morning of the 28th. You'll want to concentrate on viewing southerly direction. Although a few meteors should be visible from the more northerly regions of the northern hemisphere, this shower will be better the farther south you are.
